the chin family by stefano giovannoni for alessi

these new objects are a continuation of "the chin family" collection, created from a joint project between alessi and the national palace museum in taiwan. along with museum management, alessi asked famed stefano giovannoni to design a mascot for the new face that NPM wanted to give to the 21st century.

for the "a di alessi" catalogue, a series of little characters were created from the aforementioned mascot, each of whom carries a household function. the chin family even represents a new example of playfulness: instead of being made with a single injection as usually happens with the molding technology used for plastics, the characters/objects are instead printed on individual pieces as if they were wooden figures or porcelain dolls and the details of their clothing’s oriental decorations, typical of giovanonni's design, are done by hand. each piece comes in groovy gift packaging. Starts at $24
