diamonds mystify police

Diamonds worth $1.5 million were stolen in a Sydney heist worthy of a movie plot reports ninemsn.com.au

The collection of more than 500 diamonds was to be exhibited at the Australian Jewellery Fair at Darling Harbour, but a security case containing the jewels failed to turn up.

The briefcase was one of six sent to the fair from a jewellery company based in Melbourne, the Jewellers Association of Australia (JAA) said.

Five of the briefcases were delivered to the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre from an off-site vault on Saturday at 9am (AEST), but another bag never arrived and was later declared missing, the association said.
